When your liver is damaged or has a disease, it may pain. However, you do not need to panic because it may also be a side effect of a new medication. It could also be an autoimmune disease.

  • Fluid pockets could be the cause of the pain. When you have liver disease, it may create a fluid pocket which is basically in the abdomen. The area near the liver swells up and it causes a lot of pain due to fluid deposit. Doctors may drain the fluid near the liver. It is called paracentesis.
